“What do I say here?” I thought to myself as I began to write this page. It started out as a narrative of being the second born of a Preacher, having an education in electronics and accounting but it got too long. In reality, I am the father of two wonderful kids, the husband of my Internet sweetheart who God brought into my life at one of the lowest times of my life. I am, tor my clients, their voice out of the darkness leading them to the light in the midst of the host of bits and bytes.

I began learning about electronics at age 12 when most my friends were heavily into sports. Not that I didn’t like sports, l loved speed skating but I wasn’t shall we say “gifted” when it came time to hit a ball, catch a ball or make a basket. However, during the CB radio craze I had to fix a microphone one evening on an old junk CB radio that my father picked up at some garage sale. Fixing the microphone was actually easy so I began thinking that I could do with the microphone that would be cool.

Early in the 1980s I began to learn small systems repair on the DEC PDP-8/e.  These 12-bit computers which used paper tape to load programs or the front panel entering byte by byte. Working with these computers helped me develop a method of solving problems that I still use in today’s modern 16, 32 and 64-bit computers.

Today’s offices are becoming much more reliant on shared resources. No longer is it just a single computer in an office but rather the computer is replacing nearly everything on everyone’s computer. We connect to files on a server, your home computer even your cell phone. It’s exciting to see how much we can do using a computer in this age.

I love to see how to connect technology together; sharing data with different devices. Even now most of our desktop applications are moving to the “cloud” where the application and data are located out on a server somewhere on the internet so you can connect your desktop, cell phone, book reader, tablet computer and television all together through a single connection. It’s indeed a great time to have this technology.

However, as simple as the developers envisioned all these devices connecting together the system as a whole isn’t a perfect science. In fact computers are not perfect at all, problems will arise and need to be solved. This is where I found so many years back I loved to be; between you and your computer. “What applications will do xyz, or can I connect device abc to that application xyz; what would you recommend?” you might ask or “A screen just popped up and says I did something illegal, or I have 2 million infections what do I do?” That is where I shine, I love solving problems.

I love what I do and the living it provides for my wonderful family. I am happy to be your “Computer Guy!”
